Microspheres can be added as part of an automated process or manually. They may be introduced to any adhesive, cleaner or primer or directly applied at the interface between two layers.

A very low percentage of microspheres is required to facilitate De-Bonding. Less than 1 gram of thermally expandable microspheres is sufficient to facilitate the clean removal of a normal windscreen, with certain microsphere formulations.
