De-Bonding are part of two FP6 projects, ILIPT and ECODISM
ILIPT. this project has a predicted budget of 66m Euros, De-Bonding is part of Task 2.2 "ModCar" working with 38 companies to design and realize the Modular car, easy to mount and dismount with adhesive joints. De-Bonding are working with new materials, metal, plastic, plastic-composite plastic glazing and glass.
The Modcar task is material development, compatibility with glass edge and systems validation, optimization of infra- red heaters and evidence of system operation in mounting and dismantling car-glazing. Based on three technologies already approached by De-Bonding Limited.
ECODISM is different from ILIPT as it covers more materials and repair systems. Which means the Trigger heat the TEM needs will be different dependent on the materials bonded together i.e.. many vehicle parts, wings spoilers etc.. The "ecological dismounting" is oriented to easy, rapid and low cost dismounting of adhesive parts. allowing better utilisation of recycling. The European ELV directive conceived a material preparation of more then 95% for recycling by the year 2016. Other countries are introducing similar legislation so a global ecological approach to solve the EVL directive issues are needed as exports of vehicles will need free access to markets. |
